WHAT SEPARATES US FROM TRADITIONAL KENNELS?   It's quite simple, pets are happier and healthier in a loving home versus a kennel.  In our home, there are no worries about exposure to strange animals, constant barking and consequences from caging.  Our home eliminates the exposure to sickness and parasites which can result in a costly visit to your vet after traditional boarding.  We provide human contact, love and attention every second of your pet's stay.

MWV Petsitters also offers simplicity in services and pricing.  We offer dog walks, daycare and overnights with a set price for each.  It's simple and straight forward.  Some kennels offer a confusing array of services at unaffordable prices.  We found one kennel in the area that charges additional fees for hugs and kisses.  Do you really want your pet to be cared for by someone who puts a price tag on affection?

Once the traditional kennels in our area took notice of our cage free petcare, they realized it was a sought after service.  In response, one of our competitors created small, individual rooms to make it appear your pet would be staying in a home like enviroment.  They offer a bed in confined, secluded quarters with minimal human contact.  After your pet's last walk of the evening, shifts end and your pet is left unattended until the following morning.  What if there is a medical emergency?  What if your dog needs to relieve himself?  What if there was a fire at the facility?  At MWV, your pet has free reign of our entire home, our backyard and a minimum of three walks per day to the river, along with lots of love and attention throughout their stay.  Your pet is never left unattended and will receive constant human contact and interaction.

How MWV PETSITTERS got started -

Sophie was our 15- year old Collie mix that we rescued at the age of 12.  She has since passed on to Rainbow Heaven.  Even though she had health issues, she brought much joy and happiness to our lives.  We had a situation arise requiring out of state travel and were unable to take Sophie.  Suddenly we were faced with the daunting task of trying to find a petsitter who was trustworthy, reliable and knowledgeable regarding Sophie's medical conditions, and give us peace of mind.  Sounds easy, but not really!  Petsitters in the area offered crates, kennels, seclusion, concrete slabs and limited human contact.  This was not acceptable for our Sophie.  Nobody offered in-home pet care. 

We started our due diligence to find the perfect petsitter including following all the recommended suggestions of professional petsitter organizations; checking references and asking for referrals from satisfied customers.  As a result of our search, we discovered a demand for more than a "Dog Walker" or "Pet Checker".  Since placing our first ad in The Conway Daily Sun, the response from local businesses, residents and visitors have exceded our expectations.  So, MWV Petsitters was born.  Since then, our business and website models have been emulated by many in the valley.  When we started MWV PETSITTERS, most pet checkers, dog walkers and kennels in the area didn't have brochures, literature or websites to access.  One measure of success is when others follow your lead! 

Michelle Freitas, founder, retired from the hospitality industry which included management positions at some of Mount Washington Valley's premier properties.  Pet owners who knew of Michelle's love for animals and passion for customer service, entrusted their pets in her care for extended vacations.  Our goal is to enable your pet(s) to keep their daily routine as uninterrupted as possible, maintain all dietary habits and ensure their walking schedules stay on track.  No unfamiliar sights, sounds, or smells to upset them.
